Bernard Kane is an award-winning photographer of many years' experience. His work appears daily in the Antelope Valley Press, an award-winning Associated Press newspaper in north Los Angeles County, serving a population of nearly 500,000. The Valley Press has a circulation of nearly 100,000.

Prior to his tenure there, he was chief photographer for the Murray Ledger & Times, a community newspaper serving western Kentucky. He transitioned the paper from film and B&W to digital and color photography.

He believes in the value of good reporting and sees his journalism as an example of that. Accordingly, all his work meets the strictest tests of ethical reporting, and he promises that none of his work has or ever will be returned for failing that test.

As an artist, Kane looks for the singularities and inherent beauty in everyday things. His environmental pieces use classic themes of composition and technique. He sees his work as part of the lineage of Weston and Adams.

He is continually looking for new challenges, especially in the metropolitan LA area, and especially as a college teacher or guest lecturer.
